In the eighteenth episode of the Manufacturing Hub, we speak with Benson Hougland from Opto 22. Benson has extensive experience and knowledge in the world of manufacturing automation. In his early career, Benson was fortunate to run his own company in computer hardware and software before being recruited to Opto 22 where he led a number of breakthrough technological innovations. Our conversation goes on various topics and we uncover how Opto 22 operates, what projects they’re working on, and how they approach the current challenges within the industry.
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
Benson Hougland has three decades of experience in manufacturing automation. In his early career, Benson founded a computer software, hardware, and consulting company which exposed him to the technical and business challenges of technological change. An opportunity to join Opto 22 was presented to him in mid 1990s where he was brought on as a technical expert. By participating in various industry-defining initiatives, Benson delivered products that had a major impact on the automation industry. Today, in his role as the Vice President of Opto 22, Benson brings awareness to the new lines of products released by the company and still finds time to be hands-on with the hardware and software! His entire home is automated on groov EPIC and RIO.
